Why is it when I play small pocket pairs, I can’t get trips to save my life. When someone plays small pocket pairs against me, they always get trips?
Just asking.

Rigged of course! LOL It does seem that way sometimes. I like when you do hit trips and the board is coordinated to a flush draw or str8 draw which is ok.... until the turn completes their draw.....
Rduck, I've had cash games that it seemed that I couldn't miss when set mining. Over the long haul you'll hit them exactly the number of times the math dictates them to hit.
That being said, ever notice that on PS when holding pkt 2's, a 3 hits the flop. When holding pkt 3's, a 2 hits the flop. Unless of course when they're folded, then they'll hit. That kinda freaks me out.

selective memory is great when it keeps us from pain.
it sucks when it causes it.

Just every once and awile I would wish for trips to come from a pocket pair.:violin::violin:

You will flop trips 1 out of 8 times math...

A thought: is it not far more likely you will see the opponent has played a small pocket pair turned set then if they did not?
Unless a flush or 4 straight hits it's unlikely they would fold a hidden set, while you would be quickly folding those 5s that are under cards to the board.
So it while you would be seeing your set only one out of 8 hands or so, you will be seeing the set from them the majority of the time they make it. With 8 other players you will face the set 8 times more often then you will get it.
So it wouldn't be so much of an illusion after all, I'm not about to work out the math on how much more likely you are to be against it then get it but it will indeed be frustratingly more common. :)
