I am a little stoked as I just finally broke down a bought a new bowling ball. I purchased the Hammer Black Widow Pearl. I had been using Ebonite's Infinite One for quite some time now, actually bought one the day they came on to the market. The only problem was that now my game has taken a new turn and the old one being a sanded ball went from one side of the lane to the other and therefore my control of the ball sucked. Although the first night with the new ball was a little less than what I was counting on (due to a different span) I was very surprised. I was able to hit the pocket at a much lessor speed which in turn made my arm happy. So instead of throwing about 18mph (or however it is classified) I have come down to high 14's low 15's.

So i am asking any of you out there what your experiences have been with this ball if you have it.

Well just an update for anyone who cares. After bowling horribly last week with the new ball this week was much more to my liking. Not only did I find out what I needed to do to adjust I bowled games I was bowling last season and not 20-30 pin under. In fact it was more like 10-25 over last years average. The only major struggle this week was the fact that the lanes had very little oil out there and broke down fast which caused me to have to move 7 boards to the left of my normal start and increase my ball speed by 2. My arm was ready to come off by the time I was done with it. But overall a good night. I did find one thing out I throw a much better ball when someone ****es me off :D.

There is one other thing you can try wen the lanes are dry like that if you still have trouble after moving left and speeding up you delivery. You have to be confident and have good ball control though. Move right and through the ball down the right side of the lane. When you do this you need to get the ball a little farther down the lane before the ball makes contact with the lane. Be careful not to chuck an air ball down the lane. The ball will need to track somewhere around the first arrow. Come over the top of the ball lightly as if you were throwing a hook shot and the ball will have a gradual break to the pocket.

If you've ever watched Walter Ray Jr bowl, this is a style that he's mastered. I've had to go to this type of delivery before when the lanes were like a desert or the pattern had just broke down too much for me.

If the lanes are bad when you first start practice next time you should try throwing the ball like this a few times and see if your comfortable doing it. The biggest thing that messes people up doing this is they worry about the gutter. You have to block that out.
