Hello,
My name is Angel. I've been playing poker for about 6 months now. I like most players got hooked on it by watching ESPN WSOP.
While on vacation last summer in Laughlin, NV a friend of mine convinced me to enter a tournament at the Avi Hotel and Casino. I had never played Hold’em before so a couple of hours before the tournament started I was taught the nuances of the game such as Big Blind, Little Blinds, Ante, etc.I remember being extremely nervous for this tournament so much so that I went to the restroom about 4 times before it started. I kept saying to myself "Don't be the first one out!!!" not knowing that there is a name for that type of style of play called "Extreme Conservative" lol To my surprise I finished in 7th place which paid $75 and covered my $35 Buy in and entry fee.
Well I was hooked then and am hooked now. Soon after I started playing at Pokerstars and then moved on to FulltiltPoker. I like FulltiltPoker a lot better because of all their FREE tournaments.
After not making my improvement in my poker game(I guess you can’t learn everything from TV lol) I went and bought a few books one by Ken Warren, Daniel Negreanu, Gus Hanson, and Phil Gordon. All very good books that I recommend and you can email me for their titles.
Soon my game improved a great deal so much so that I won 2 of FulltiltPokers 180 player free roll tournaments which felt great. No cash involved but gave me great personal satisfaction. Just last week I came in 2nd, 4th, 10th, and 14th in Live poker tournaments at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. Again great boos to my confidence. By the way I recommend this hotel for starting out players because the $50 buy in gets you 5000 in chips. Best deal on the strip or off the strip in Vegas.
I found my way to this forum via Pockerstars. I saw you were running a private tournament and I checked the site out and signed up.
