I just dont understand why anyone would raise preflop in Omaha, especially if you have AA in your starting hand. Dont you want maximum value instead of having everyone fold to your raise? Especially early on in the game when the blinds are so low. Here is a HH from the game I am in right now, where I have AA in my starting hand. Im not saying I played this right, just saying I got more than the blinds.

IMO any starting hand in Omaha is easily busted preflop, I don't see anything wrong with raising something preflop, however you gotta be aware of just how much of your chip stack you want to risk throughout the hand flop, turn, river. A pair preflop in Omaha is not a strong starting hand again IMO, as there were tons of hands that had you toast post flop.

I'd limp here too, Cali, but for different reasons. AA86 ds is a pretty marginal hand UTG because it can't make the nut low. Without it being ds I would muck it. Here you can play it as a high only hand, but the reason you limp with it rather than raise is because it's just not that strong. Exactly when you do raise AAxx in plo8 is half a book. Typically I'm only playing AAxx at all if I have at least a wheel card. And something like AA57 I'm going to need a suited A and good position to get involved. With the powerhouses like AA23 you raise both for value and because you don't mind seeing a multiway flop or getting HU with a hand like that. Having said all that, when the blinds are small you can make a case for never raising pre with even strong AA. But if someone else raises pre-flop I am repotting everytime. Also if I am in LP and there have been several limpers. Unlike NLHE someone always seems to find a reason to call raises pre when they've already limped, so I'm raising for value.

I dont raise when the blinds are low but once they get in the 200/400 range I definitely will when you have a better chance of isolating your hand down to one player.

Just curious ref. You are talking about limit omaha correct?

Also I am curious to see if I should call a raise with a big pair knowing it can be beaten. How much value do you guys put on big pairs when calling a raise instead of being the one to raise?

In Omaha-hi I'm not playing big pairs at all other than AA unless they have working side cards or if I'm first it in LP and feel an OR has a good chance of picking up the blinds.

Yes. That is what the thread is about riggggght?

I'm not a big fan of PP in omaha other than AA except in very certain situations, like position, who I'm in the pot with, blinds and (most importaintly) the other two cards in my hand. All things you consider when you play vs me riggggght? LOL
